Pastor to Families

This is a full time, salaried position.  Primary responsibilities are to oversee a comprehensive program of ministry for children/youth from birth to fifth grade and be responsible for Middle School/High School program(s).  

Job Responsibilities 
• Work with the Senior Pastor in promoting spirituality, evangelism and church growth. This person will report to the Senior Pastor with Elder oversight. 

• Develop an overall purpose statement to guide the children and youth ministry. 

• Plan and oversee activities for all age groups: children and youth with emphasis on a Sunday morning program for infants through fifth grade and a weekly meeting for Middle/High School Students. Additional activities may include, but not be limited to camps, retreats, conferences,  concerts, service projects, AWANA, mission trips and other activities that enhance the  overall goals of the children/youth ministry. 

• Develop a team to assist with the planning and carrying out of the ministry to include recruiting, training and supporting this ministry team. 

• Coordinate and oversee the annual Vacation Bible School. 

• Attend ministry meetings and other meetings as needed. 

• Work cooperatively and harmoniously with church leaders/Elders in ways that fulfill the goals, purposes, and vision for the ministry

• Create, track, and execute annual budget for children/youth

• Communicate with the Senior Pastor/Elder Team concerning any issues/counseling with children,  youth or parents. 

• Make financial arrangements regarding trips and events and take an administrative role for securing reservations and registrations. 

• Effective communications with the group by e-mail, texting, calling, newsletters, mailings, website, word-of-mouth, and other appropriate social media. 

• Participate in community-wide children/youth ministry as opportunities arise. 

• Foster family participation and growth by getting to know the children/youth and encouraging family involvement with children/youth activities as appropriate. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Requirements 
▪ Must have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 

▪ Must demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. The wisdom to refrain from indiscriminately sharing information is critical, including, but not limited to social networks and word of mouth. 

▪ Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. 

▪ Must be a self-starter and have the ability to set timetables and accomplish tasks. 

▪ Must display a pleasing public appearance and demeanor and have excellent people skills.  

▪ Must be able to readily adapt to changing requirements. 

▪ Must be certified in CPR – training will be provided. 

▪ Must be able to readily adapt to changing requirements, needs, and new technologies.

▪ Must be a member and attend DRF Church Services regularly. 

▪ Must pass a background check. The church will pay for any expenses associated with this process.

Support Resources 
The Children/Youth Associate will receive the support of the Senior Pastor and Elder Team in his/her ministry responsibilities and will be able to meet regularly with the Senior Pastor/assigned Elder for support, prayer and direction to include clarifying expectations and to seek guidance for the overall ministry direction.

Salary will be competitive and determined at time of hiring.
